In Wichita, our public water does not contain fluoride, so many people have a fluoride deficiency, which puts teeth at a greater risk for cavities. Fluoride is an interesting mineral because it attracts other minerals and strengthens tooth enamel. At your checkup, we can determine whether your teeth would benefit from a fluoride supplement. If we find that your teeth could use a boost, we'll recommend a simple solution.
Fluoride varnish or foam can be applied in our office for patients of all ages. We may also provide you with a prescription for fluoride that you can brush on your teeth at home. Our hygienist can recommend additional ways to keep your fluoride levels up between dental visits, such as using a fluoride-rich mouthwash at home.
